Resorts, Guesthouses, Dive Centers and Yacht Marinas in 7 Atolls have undergone a thorough examination as per the Minister of Tourism, Honorable Ali Waheed. The Minister announced this during a press conference held on 20th June 2019.
During the press conference, the Minister highlighted that the most common observation was the abundance of unregistered facilities and the need for improvement in security standards in the respective facilities.
“We will take any necessary actions that are required after the inspection,” said Honorable Ali Waheed. “The examinations are being carried out in order to improve the standards of the tourism industry.”
The inspections are being carried out as a joint effort by the Ministry of Tourism and Maldives Police Service and they have currently examined facilities in Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Gaaf Dhaal and Gaaf Alif Atoll. They have also finished the examination of Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.
