IUM Chancellor Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has resigned from his position

Islamic University of Maldives (IUM)’s Chancellor Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has resigned from his position yesterday.

Dr Shaheem has also been the former Islamic Minister and State Minister of the Ministry while he resigned from the position of chancellor as Mr Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu)’s new government will come in power on the upcoming Saturday. He has also been the running mate of President Yameen during the last election on 23rd September where Ibu has won the election with majority of votes.

After then resignation, Dr Shaheem stated in a tweet that although he does not hold the position, he always aims to be in service of the nation and Religion of Islam. 

Dr Shaheem has resigned while the spokesperson of Ibu, Ms Maria Ahmed Didi had called out to all political position holders of the current government to resign from their positions. Dr Shaheem has worked on the forefront during the start and the development of Islamic University of Maldives where he started his work as the Vice Chancellor of the university while he was given the post of Chancellor during August 2016.
