President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Jameela Ali Khalid as the Maldives’ High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Jameela received her letter of appointment during a ceremony at the President’s Office on Monday morning.

The appointment was made under the Maldives Foreign Service Act following parliamentary approval. Members present at the sitting unanimously supported her nomination after it was submitted to Parliament by the President.
Jameela previously served as the Maldives’ Ambassador to Germany and as Vice President of the Civil Service Commission. She has held several roles within the country’s foreign service.
She succeeds Iruthisham Adam, who vacated the diplomatic post after being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
