The Government of Japan has handed over the list of equipment to be provided under the Exchange of Notes signed between the Government of Maldives and the Government of Japan in October 2019 following the visit of His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to Japan.
Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Her Excellency Ms. Keiko Yanai handed over the list to Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid at a special ceremony held today.
Under the terms of the Exchange of Notes, the Government of Japan will extend to the Government of Maldives, a grant of five hundred million Japanese Yen
(¥ 500,000,000) for further promoting the economic and social development of the Maldives. This grant will be utilized towards countering terrorism and provide the Aviation Security Command with the necessary equipment to enhance monitoring capabilities of the Command.
Japan has always been a consistent and one of the most reliable development partners of the Maldives, contributing immensely to the social and economic development of the country.
The ceremony was witnessed by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the officials of the Embassy of Japan to the Maldives.
