Japanese Government makes donation to Guraidhoo Special Needs Home

The Government of Japan has donated MVR 1.3 million to renovate and expand the medical clinic at the Home for People with Special Needs in K. Guraidhoo.

The donation was handed over during a ceremony held in K. Guraidhoo on Friday.

On behalf of the Japanese government, Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Her Excellency Ms Keiko Yanai handed over the donation, which was received by the Chief Executive Officer of the Home, Imran Ibrahim.

The Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services said that the financial assistance given will also be utilized to establish first aid arrangements to tend to the patients in emergency situations and that the donation will help to improve the quality of services provided to the residents of the home.

Around 200 people currently reside in the Home for People with Special Needs in K. Guraidhoo.
