Journalists from South Africa arrived to Maldives

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) welcomed a team of journalists from South Africa for the first familiarization trip planned for this year. The aim of this trip is to further expand the exposure and promote the destination in the South African market.

The media team from South Africa comprises of journalists and editors well known for their travel and lifestyle articles on publications such as Sail and Leisure, Wildside, Getaway, Cosmopolitan, and Khuluma. Their experiences in the Maldives would be featured as articles in their respective publication and this will further boost the visibility of the destination in the South African market.

During the six-day trip, the team will be staying at Meeru Island Resort & Spa, Adaaran Club Rannalhi and Adaaran Select Meedhupparu. The media team will be witnessing unique aspects and cuisines from each resort. Moreover, the media team will experience different sides of the Maldives such as excursions dolphin cruise and other unique experiences.

A total of 9,545 tourist arrivals were recorded from South Africa last year. This is a 23.1% increase compared to 2018. MMPRC has planned to carry out several activities in the South African market to further promote the destination throughout the year which includes exhibiting in WTM Africa.
