Maldives and Saudi Arabia Discuss Expanding Trade and Investment

Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce, Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, to explore opportunities for expanding trade relations and increasing Saudi investments in the Maldives. The meeting took place during Dr Khaleel’s ongoing official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties and enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations. Discussions focused on strengthening trade relations and identifying potential investment opportunities that could benefit both countries.

Before formal discussions commenced, Dr Khaleel extended his condolences to the Saudi royal family on the passing of Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Saud.

As part of his visit, Dr Khaleel also met with Dr Eng. Saud Alshammari, the Director General of South Asia Operations at the Saudi Fund for Development. Their discussions centred on strengthening collaboration with the fund and advancing projects that drive sustainable development in the Maldives.

Dr Khaleel’s engagements in Saudi Arabia reflect ongoing efforts to boost economic ties and attract foreign investment to key sectors in the Maldives.
