Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Moosa Zameer, met with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, during his official visit to the UAE. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, Minister Zameer formally handed over a letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, addressed to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The contents of the letter remain undisclosed, but it is understood to pertain to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The discussions between the two ministers centred on enhancing the strong ties of friendship and cooperation that have long existed between the Maldives and the UAE. Minister Zameer expressed gratitude for the generous support and close cooperation extended by the UAE to the Maldives over the years, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration.
Concluding the meeting, both Minister Zameer and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed their commitment to working closely together on issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally and in international fora. The reaffirmation marks a continuation of the Maldives’ efforts to bolster its diplomatic and strategic engagements with the UAE, a key partner in the Gulf region.
