Maldives Anticipates 1 Million Tourist Arrivals by July 2023

The Ministry of Tourism announced its projection of 1 million total tourist arrivals in the Maldives in July.

Despite June and July being considered off-season due to the monsoon, statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism indicate that over 110,912 tourists have visited the country from June 1 to June 28.

Comparing the numbers to the same period last year, a total of 920,156 tourists visited the Maldives as of June 28th, 2023, showing a 14.2% increase.

China, a prominent player in the Maldivian tourism market, has recently introduced direct flights to the Maldives, making it the sixth-largest market for tourist visits.

The Maldives has witnessed India as the leading source market this year, with 109,190 tourist arrivals. Russia follows closely in second place, with 107,985 Russian tourists visiting the Maldives this year.

The country’s tourism infrastructure continues to improve, with an operational capacity of 60,908 beds available for visitors.
