The Maldives has been elected to the Management Committee of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) and has been appointed as the Regional Director for Asia. These appointments were finalised during CATA’s 23rd Annual General Meeting, held in Mauritius from 21st to 25th October.
This election marks the third term for the Maldives on CATA’s Management Committee, having previously held roles as both a committee member and regional representative. CATA, founded in 1978 by the Commonwealth Finance Ministers, aims to support Member States in developing effective tax administrations that contribute to sustainable development and governance. The association, the largest of its kind globally, works towards these goals through conferences, training programmes, publications, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
During this year’s Technical Conference, elections were also held for other CATA leadership roles, with Malaysia elected as President and Mauritius as Chairman.
