Maldives Surpasses Half a Million Tourist Arrivals in 2024

The Ministry of Tourism has announced a significant milestone: surpassing 500,000 tourist arrivals since the start of 2024. As of March 17th, a total of 513,377 tourists have visited the island nation, demonstrating a continued robust recovery in the tourism sector.

China has emerged as the top source market for the Maldives, with 60,699 visitors accounting for 11.8% of total arrivals. Following closely behind, Russia has contributed 52,385 tourists (10.2% market share). Italy maintains a strong presence with 49,480 arrivals (9.6%), while the UK follows with 46,849 (9.1%).

Other significant contributors include Germany (35,761 visitors), India (31,028), France (20,906), the United States (16,960), Poland (12,570), and Switzerland (11,787).

The average length of stay for tourists in the Maldives currently stands at 7.8 days. These figures indicate a substantial increase in visitor numbers compared to the same period in previous years, underscoring the enduring appeal of the Maldives as a premier holiday destination.
