The priorities were discussed during a meeting between Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE Thoriq Ibrahim and UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
Discussions covered potential avenues for increasing bilateral trade, strengthening tourism cooperation and advancing areas of shared economic interest. The two sides also considered opportunities to develop mutually beneficial partnerships under the broader Maldives-UAE relationship.
Tourism already represents an important component of economic ties between the countries. More than 8,000 travellers from the UAE visited the Maldives during the first seven months of 2026, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
