Maldivian football legend Assad appointed as MNDF Sports Ambassador

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has appointed former Maldivian National team player, Assad Abdul Ghanee as their new Sports Ambassador.

Assad was presented with his credentials as the new Sports Ambassador by the Chief of Defence Force Major General, Abdullah Shamaal during the Futsal Challenge closing ceremony at Kalhuthukula Koshi.

As the new Sports Ambassador, Assad will be working closely with MNDF to promote and enhance the sporting spirit within the organization.

Assad made his international debut in the football field in 2001 and he is well known as the ‘Golden Captain’ for his efforts and skills during the first SAFF championship won by the Maldivian national team in 2008. Moreover, he was awarded a “golden plaque” by the Football Association of Maldives as recognition of his contribution to the national team.
