Etihad Guest members will soon be able to redeem their loyalty miles for flights operated by Maldivian, expanding reward travel beyond Malé to domestic airports and regional destinations served by the national airline.
The two carriers have signed a partnership agreement that will connect Etihad Airways’ loyalty programme with Maldivian’s network. A launch date for the redemption arrangement has not yet been announced.
Under the partnership, travellers arriving in the Maldives through Etihad will be able to use previously earned Etihad Guest Miles to continue their journeys with Maldivian. This will provide another booking option for passengers travelling to islands and atolls outside the capital.
Mark Potter, Managing Director of Etihad Guest at Etihad Airways, said the arrangement would allow members to access destinations that might otherwise require a separate booking, while offering greater choice in how their miles are used.
Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas said the partnership would combine Etihad’s international reach with Maldivian’s domestic network, making destinations across the country more accessible to Etihad Guest members.
The loyalty partnership builds on an interline agreement established between the airlines in 2024. That arrangement allows passengers to travel on a single ticket from Etihad-operated services to 17 airports across the Maldives through connections with Maldivian.
The latest agreement extends access to the same domestic network through mileage redemptions. It could improve onward connectivity for international visitors, particularly those travelling to resorts and inhabited islands that require domestic flights from Malé.
