Malé Taxi App Now Available for Android Users, Web Platform to be Shutdown

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has launched the Malé Taxi app on the Google Play Store, expanding the service to Android users as it prepares to phase out its web-based booking platform.

The company first introduced the app last week through Apple’s App Store, making it available exclusively to iPhone users. With the latest rollout, the platform is now accessible on both iOS and Android devices.

MTCC has encouraged customers currently using the Malé Taxi web application to switch to the mobile app, stating that the web-based service will be discontinued shortly.

The app builds on the existing online booking system and allows users to book taxis, schedule journeys in advance and manage trips digitally through a single platform.

According to MTCC, passengers can schedule rides at least three hours before departure. The platform also supports multiple payment methods, including wallet top-ups, bank card payments through a payment gateway and scan-and-pay services.

Users can access trip histories and manage future bookings through the app. Additional features include in-app options to call or message drivers, a safety function designed to assist passengers during emergencies and a reporting mechanism for lost items.
