Marriott Seeks Hospitality Talent in the Maldives

Marriott International Maldives has expanded its commitment to cultivating local hospitality talent with the announcement of recruitment open days for the second cohort of its successful Marriott International Maldives Apprenticeship Program. Following the positive response to the program’s inaugural year, Marriott seeks to inspire and train the next generation of Maldivian hospitality professionals.

The 10-month apprenticeship program, launched in May 2023, is a collaboration between Marriott International Maldives, the Maldives Institute of Technology, and the National Apprenticeship Program (NAP). It is carried out under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Information and Arts. The program provides a unique blend of theoretical knowledge at MIT, using a curriculum approved by the Maldives Skills Development Authority, and practical experience at Marriott’s diverse portfolio of seven luxurious Maldivian resorts.

Apprentices gain exposure to various hospitality disciplines, including guest services, culinary arts, housekeeping, and front office operations. Successful completion of the program leads to a level-3 National Certificate accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority.

“Investing in our people is a core value at Marriott International,” said Mark Fletcher, Area Director of Human Resources, Singapore & Maldives at Marriott International. “This program empowers young Maldivians with the skills and real-world experience needed to become hospitality leaders. We’re excited to welcome a new cohort of passionate individuals.”

The program welcomes Maldivians aged 16 to 20 who are enthusiastic about hospitality, possess a strong work ethic, and are eager to learn. It’s open to individuals from all backgrounds, including fresh graduates and those looking to make a career change.
