Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has announced it will commence charging rent from its flat recipients starting October. The decision was conveyed to flat recipients via a notice from the company’s Human Resources (HR) department.
The accommodation provided by MPL consists of 534 apartments, catering to the housing needs of its staff members. These apartments comprise 204 single-room units and 330 three-room units.
The move to introduce rent charges aligns with a prior statement made by MPL’s CEO, Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim, in February.
At that time, Ibrahim had indicated that rent charges would commence once all residents had settled into the accommodation. Since then, individuals have gradually moved into the apartments provided by MPL.
It’s worth noting that MPL had previously facilitated ease in paying down payments and rent for its residents.
