The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority has publicly identified 33 parties with unpaid tax liabilities exceeding MVR 1 million, as it moves to recover assessed taxes that remain unsettled despite prior notification.
The names were published under MIRA’s policy for disclosing information about parties that fail to submit tax returns or pay outstanding taxes.
According to the authority, each of the listed parties was contacted by telephone before their information was made public. They were informed about the legal penalties associated with failing to pay taxes and the enforcement measures that could be taken against them.
MIRA also sent SMS notifications to the parties before proceeding with the disclosure.
The authority said it would continue taking measures permitted under its Enforcement Policy to recover unpaid revenue owed to the state. These measures will be applied without discrimination, it added.
MIRA urged taxpayers with outstanding returns to submit them and called on those with unpaid liabilities to settle the amounts without further delay.
