MPL Processes 5,465 Containers of Cargo in October

In October, the Male’ Commercial Harbour, operated by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), successfully cleared a total of 7,641 TEUs (5,465 containers) of cargo, according to the latest statistics released by MPL.

Specifically, during October, the harbour had an average daily clearance rate of 246 TEUs, translating to 176 individual containers daily. This signifies a 20% increase compared to the previous month’s figures.

To provide a more detailed breakdown of the cargo handled in October, out of the total 5,465 containers cleared, 3,289 were 20-foot containers, while 2,176 were 40-foot containers.

During October, the harbour welcomed 13 container ships and 23 conventional cargo vessels.

As for October’s most frequently cleared perishable items, MPL’s data highlights bananas, watermelon, pumpkin, pineapple, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and eggs.
