Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of National Planning, Housing & Infrastructure towards the implementation of Lh. Olhuvelifushi Harbor Development Project. COO Shahid Hussain Moosa signed on behalf of MTCC and Ms. Fathimath Shaana Farooq, DG, signed on behalf of the Ministry. MP Abdul Ghani graced the ceremony.
The agreement made for the harbour development project today offers the local residents enhanced docking facilities for their boats. Moreover, this project will address the challenges faced during the arrival and departure of boats.
The project includes maintenance dredging operations of 7,534 cubic metres and new harbour basin dredging operations totaling 19,857 cubic metres.
Additionally, the project involves channel dredging operations of 14,160 cubic metres, the construction of a 164-metre revetment, a 172-metre breakwater, a 156-metre sand-filled breakwater outer revetment, a 156-metre sand-filled breakwater inner revetment, a 246-metre quay wall, an 11-metre by 11-metre ramp, a 27-metre by 5-metre bridge, a 132-meter by 2-meter jetty, and a 1,149-square-meter pavement. It also includes the installation of navigational and harbour lights. The expected project completion timeline is set at 450 days.
The project is valued at MVR 66.40 million.
