MTCC Initiates Key Phase of Sh. Milandhoo Harbour Development

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the installation of concrete blocks to construct the quay wall for the Sh. Milandhoo Harbour Development project.

This project involves maintenance dredging, totalling 17,900 cubic metres, as well as a substantial volume of 72,938 cubic metres designated for new harbour basin dredging. In addition, 8,400 cubic metres are allocated for channel dredging.

During the construction phase, the project involves the establishment of essential maritime structures. These structures consist of a 583-metre breakwater, a 316-metre quay wall, a 93-metre revetment, and a 25-metre groyne. Additionally, the endeavour includes the meticulous construction of two bridges, a 130-metre by 2-metre jetty, an access platform, and a large area of pavement spanning 3,863 square metres. The installation of harbour lights and navigational lights further contributes to the comprehensive scope of work.

The project is valued at MVR 76.44 million.
