MTCC Updates on Progress of F. Magoodhoo Airport Development Project

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that the F. Magoodhoo Airport Development Project is advancing, with key infrastructural work nearing completion.

The runway’s subgrade and subbase work is fast approaching completion with 78% of it already done. Meanwhile, the subgrade and subbase work for both the taxiway and the service road have been fully completed.

In addition, the construction of the airport road is in its final stages with 96% of the work done. Concurrently, the terminal and fire buildings are actively under construction at the designated site.

The comprehensive project includes the construction of an 1,800sqm runway, a 2,919sqm taxiway, an 81,443sqm apron, and an 895sqm fire pad. There will also be a 3,059sqm airport road, a 1,185sqm service road, a terminal building, a fire building, and a security post.

In addition, the project also covers dredging and excavation operations amounting to 142,381cbm. Moreover, it will see the installation of a fire pond, fire fighting equipment, security apparatus, fencing, perimeter and airfield lighting systems, navigational aids, MET equipment, ground handling apparatus, and road markings.

The total value of this project stands at MVR 264.9 million.
