NDA Aims to Partner with Private Rehab and Treatment Centers

The Maldives’ National Drug Agency (NDA) is seeking cooperation from the private sector in efforts to prevent drug abuse in accordance with Article 27 of the Maldives Drug Act (Act No. 17/2011).

In an announcement published in the government’s gazette yesterday, the agency invited proposals from private parties interested in establishing and operating drug rehabilitation and treatment centres.

Interested parties are required to submit proposals meeting the following criteria:

  • Provide outpatient detoxification services
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations
  • Offer counselling services
  • Provide psycho-social therapy services
  • Conduct drug testing
  • Perform psychological assessments

Prospective candidates must fill out the designated registration form available in the gazette and submit it via email to tender@nda.gov.mv before 13:00 noon on Sunday, 21st January. 

The agency highlighted that proposals from unregistered individuals or those submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

The announcement further stated that an information session will be held at 10:00 am on 17th January at the NDA head office; a presentation session is scheduled for 10:00 am on 22nd January.
