Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Villa International High School (VIHS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to launch a dedicated student internship programme.
The scheme aims to bridge the gap between classroom education and the workplace by providing students with practical learning opportunities and professional exposure.
MACL Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and VIHS Principal Ali Musthafa formally signed the agreement at a ceremony attended by senior management from both institutions. Representatives from MACL’s Learning and Development team and the VIHS leadership team were also present.
Under the agreement, participating students will gain practical experience across essential operational divisions at Velana International Airport. Key areas of placement include airport operations, engineering, information technology, customer service, logistics, corporate services, and safety and security.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed highlighted that the initiative aligns with MACL’s core commitment to “Empower and Develop Our People”. He noted that the organisation is extending this effort beyond its existing workforce to help nurture the next generation of aviation and corporate professionals in the Maldives.
The internship structure focuses on building vital workplace competencies, such as effective communication, teamwork, accountability, adaptability, problem-solving, and general professionalism. The training aims to broaden students’ awareness of future career paths while helping them adapt to standard working environments.
This MoU marks the beginning of a wider strategic partnership between MACL and VIHS. Beyond internships, the two organisations plan to collaborate on joint career-awareness initiatives, industry talks, site visits, and structured mentorship opportunities for students.
