New Start-up Airline ‘Fly Lankan Asia’ to Operate Flights to the Maldives

A new start-up airline from Sri Lanka, ‘Fly Lankan Asia’ is preparing to start operations with flights to the Maldives.

The airline is scheduled to commence its operations officially in January 2022, and will be operating as a budget airline.

According to a Sri Lankan news outlet, Fly Lankan’s CEO Dr. Arosha Fernando revealed that the airline will be commencing operations with flights to a total of six international destinations: Maldives. India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and UAE.

The airline will be commencing operations in two phases. Under the first phase, operations will begin in January to the aforementioned six destinations. Operations under the second phase will commence in March, with additional destinations. 

Fly Lankan Asia will be Sri Lanka’s third scheduled international operator after national carrier SriLankan Airlines and FitsAir, which is primarily an international cargo airline that also has some domestic passenger services.
