Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has marked the first anniversary of its Air Ambulance service. The milestone was commemorated with a special event held at the North Apron of Velana International Airport, attended by prominent officials including the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Captain Mohamed Ameen, and the Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.
Since its launch, the Air Ambulance service has conducted 787 medical evacuation flights, transporting a total of 931 patients as of 1st March. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Health, Emergency Medical Services, the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), and Asandha Company Limited.
The service has been instrumental in improving healthcare accessibility and emergency response capabilities across the country. Operating 24/7, the Air Ambulance fleet is equipped with advanced medical facilities designed to ensure safe and swift transport for patients requiring urgent medical attention.
Maldivian highlighted that the success of the service reflects the joint efforts of various government bodies and healthcare organisations. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to continuing these critical services to support the well-being of communities across the Maldives.
