- The PCB appointed Ahmed Shaheer as Chairman and Board Member of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).
- Shaheer previously chaired HDC since May 2025 and Fenaka Corporation, and served as STO Managing Director under President Yameen.
- He replaces Abdulla Faiz, who led MTDC since February 2017 and was reshuffled to MIFCO as Chairperson.
The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has appointed Ahmed Shaheer as Chairman and Board Member of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).
The regulatory authority confirmed the appointment yesterday following Shaheer’s formal departure from his previous executive post. The move comes as part of a wider restructuring of executive leadership across state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
Shaheer steps into the top role at MTDC following his removal from the post of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Chairman on Thursday, a position he had occupied since May 2025. Prior to his tenure at HDC, he served briefly as Chairman of Fenaka Corporation under the current administration before stepping down in August 2024.
Shaheer brings extensive experience in state-owned enterprise management to the public tourism enterprise. He previously served as Managing Director at the State Trading Organization (STO) during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, having advanced through the organization after leading its procurement division for several years.
Shaheer replaces former MTDC Chairman Abdulla Faiz, who had headed the tourism development entity since February 2017. Authorities reshuffled Faiz to MIFCO last week, where he now serves as Chairperson.
