Maldives Transport Authority (MTA) has plans to launch an online taxi service in the Maldives in the upcoming months.
Along with meter taxis, Transport Authority plans on creating an online service to regulate the fees taken during commutes.
Transport Authority intends to launch services such as Uber and Grab Taxi, which are a few well known online taxi services provided in major countries. These services are well sought out and popular among people as it is cheaper than normal taxis.
With the inauguration of the SinaMale’ bridge, the number of people commuting on this route has increased. It is expected the number of people will increase in the following years.
Online services such as ‘Uber’ and ‘Grab Taxi’ are well needed for the developments that are taking place in the Maldives.
