Ooredoo Maldives has opened registration for Masrace 2026, which will offer a total prize pool of MVR 43,000 and bring fishing teams together in K. Maafushi next month.
The fishing competition will take place on 7 August in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources. Registration will remain open until 11:59 pm on 21 July.
Teams must comprise 12 members, including the captain and officials, and can register online.
The winning team will receive MVR 25,000, while the second and third-placed teams will receive MVR 10,000 and MVR 5,000, respectively.
Individual prizes of MVR 1,000 will also be awarded to the best fisherman, best fisherwoman and the participant responsible for the biggest catch.
Masrace is intended to promote Maldivian fishing traditions while encouraging participation among government institutions, businesses and members of the public.
