Ooredoo Maldives has announced the renewal of its partnership with Maziya Sports & Recreation Club for the fifth consecutive year. This enduring collaboration aims to foster youth engagement, talent development, and revive the excitement for local football across communities nationwide.
Formed in 1996, Maziya Sports & Recreation Club is a prominent Maldivian football club with significant achievements, including winning the Dhivehi Premier League Championship in 2016, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021. The club also secured the President’s Cup, the most prestigious football event in the Maldives, in 2015.
In 2015, Maziya Sports & Recreation Club launched the Maziya Sports Football Academy, a youth development programme with experienced trainers dedicated to nurturing young football talent across the nation. Under the renewed partnership, Ooredoo will work closely with the club and the Football Academy to promote football in the Maldives and create new opportunities for aspiring professional players.
Ooredoo Maldives has consistently supported football development and youth engagement initiatives throughout its journey in the Maldives. Notably, Ooredoo was the proud title sponsor of the 13th edition of the SAFF Championship, the main international football tournament for national teams in South Asia, held in the Maldives. As title sponsor, Ooredoo conducted several engagement activities, enabling communities across the nation to participate in this vibrant and exciting event in 2021.
