Former President Mohamed Nasheed, MP and Speaker of the People’s Majilis has signed an MoU with Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian Parliament) today.
The MoU intends to strengthen the relationship between both constitutions and provide training opportunities for Majilis Secretariat staff.
Former President Nasheed signed the agreement during his visit to Lok Sabha this afternoon during his visit to India.
A parliamentary delegation led by the Former President is visiting India on an invitation from the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, H.E Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and Speaker of Lok Sabha, H.E Shri Om Birla.
The delegation includes Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majilis Eva Abdulla, MP Ali Azim, MP Hassan Latheef, MP Ilyas Labeeb, MP Hussain Shameem, MP Mohamed Aslam, MP Abdulla Riyaz, Secretary-General of People’s Majilis Ms. Fathimath Niusha and Counsel General Ms. Fathimath Filza.
The multi-party parliamentary delegation also visited Parliament building and was given a tour of the building by Parliament Secretariat Officials.
Later tonight, the delegation is expected to visit the Constitutional Club of India and participate in the award ceremony of India’s National Open Badminton Championship.
