Addu Gan Airport Development Project’s pre-qualification process has commenced on 20 May 2022.
This project is carried out with a line-of-credit provided by the Exim Bank of India and the airport can cater to 1.5 million passengers per annum upon project completion.
Project entails development of passenger terminal, cargo complex, air traffic control & other facilities. Other facilities include the development of a cold storage, airport roads and parking area.
As Gan International Airport is the main gateway to the south of the Maldives, modernisation and improving the quality of services are vital for the development of the southern Maldives. The airport development project will play an important role in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s policies in expanding tourism, fisheries and the economy of the southern atolls.
Physical works of this project will commence at the end of this year.
