President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the public that the administration will take every action necessary to prevent the repetition of fire incidents. He made the statement speaking to the local media after visiting the area of tonight’s tragic fire incident in Henveiru Ward.
President Solih, accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, also visited the victims of the incident being treated at ADK Hospital and the affected families being accommodated at Kalaafaanu School and inquired about their well-being.
Speaking to the media, the President assured that relevant authorities and non-governmental organizations are working to ensure the safety and well-being of the victims of tonight’s incident. He further asserted that the administration will take every action necessary to prevent the repetition of such incidents.
He said that the administration is currently working on the relocation of warehouses that store dangerous and hazardous chemicals away from residential areas. He also announced that the Cabinet will hold an emergency meeting tonight to discuss avenues to prevent such incidents in the future.
Vice President Faisal Naseem also visited the area affected by the fire tonight and inquired about the incident.
