President Mohamed Ibrahim Solih has established a national task force for the economic and social recovery of the Maldives economy from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The President Office has revealed that the National Task Force on Resilience Building and Economic Recovery was established following a Cabinet meeting on April 13th.
The main purpose of the task force is to devise a plan to fast-track economic recovery and revive economic growth with the contribution, recommendation, and advice of the stakeholders of all economic sectors, implement the plan and find sources to finance the plan. The government envisions this being done through the collaborative effort of the government, private sector, civil society, and other State institutions
President Ibrahim Solih will be directly overseeing the national task force and will have three working groups within the task force. These three working groups are working group on finance, economic recovery, and the social sector.
The national task force will work on guidelines towards overcoming the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and reopening the economy to a new normal.
