During a visit to Hoarafushi in the Haa Alifu Atoll, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted the significance of the Maldives Economic Gateway project, describing it as the most substantial economic initiative undertaken by the Maldives to date.
The President emphasized the administration’s focus on economic development as outlined in the “Week14” roadmap. He discussed the goal of achieving economic growth while addressing inherited debt from previous governments, offering insights into the financial challenges faced.
President Muizzu also pledged to revive previously stalled development projects on Hoarafushi Island. He stressed that these projects, along with new initiatives, will fulfil campaign promises and enable the launch of numerous key developments throughout the year. Among the priorities highlighted were the hospital project, land reclamation, erosion control, and waste management – all of which are essential to the well-being of the island’s residents.
