The newly developed recreational zone and interactive zone in Central Park, located in Hulhumale’ Phase 1, has officially been opened yesterday.
The opening ceremony held yesterday evening was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives Abdulla Shahid and the External Affairs Minister of India Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Additionally, the jetty at the Hulhumale’ jetty area was also inaugurated.
The newly opened zones at Central Park were constructed under a project funded by grant aid from the Government of India. As such, the recreational zone and interactive zone include a skating area, outdoor gym, viewing platform, children’s play area, parking zone, and a bicycle path.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ahmed Athif reiterated the significance of the Central Park area in the development of suburban Hulhumale’ as a whole. He further thanked the Indian Government and Embassy for their aid, and urged the public to make good use of the new facilities.
