SATA Awards concludes with Maldives taking home 18 awards

The SATA awards is one of the most prestigious awards aimed at recognizing and rewarding the best performing tourist destinations and businesses in the South Asian region.

The wards were held at the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo’s luxurious Mount Levinia Hotel and was organized by a Maldivian company Highrise. With 273 nominationsin 10 different areas, 39 categories were awarded.

Maldives took home 18 awards this year. Host country took home 8 and neighbors India took home 3. However, awards for Leading Airport Hotel and Leading International were not disclosed at the function at the time.

  • Leading All Inclusive Resort, Hotel: Centara Grand Island
  • Leading Designer Hotel: Amilla Fushi

  • Leading Luxury Hotel: W Maldives
  • Leading Family Resort: Sun Island Resort and Spa
  • Leading Wellness Spa Hotel: The Sun Siyam Irufushi
  • Leading Wellness Spa Brand: Araamu Spa
  • Leading Dive Hotel, Resort: Adaaran Select Meedhupparu
  • Leading Activities Water Sports Center: Adaaran Club Rannaalhu
  • Leading Dive School, Center: Dive Oceaners
  • Leading Travel Agency: Voyages Maldives
  • Leading GS, PSA: Cyprea Maldives
  • Leading Surf Hotel: Cinnamon Dhonveli
  • Leading Liveaboard: Scubaspa Yand
  • Leading Liveaboard Brand: Voyages Maldives
  • Leading Meeting and Conference Resort and Hotel: Paradise Island Resort and Spa

The awards concluded with a a Gala function with traditional Maldivian folk music ‘Boduberu’ and traditional activities. With 7 Visitors Choice Awards handed out, 5 of them were won by Maldivian brands.
