A delegation of senior bankers from the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) has visited Maldives ahead of the association’s annual conference which is to be held in Kurumba Resort in November.
The visiting delegation was led by ABA Chairman, Mr Daniel Wu. A number of meetings were held regarding preparations for the conference and the ABA team also made a courtesy call on the Minister of Finance & Treasury, Mr Ahmed Munawar and MMA Governor, Mr Ahmed Naseer.
Around 200 representatives from 80 banks hailing from 25 different Asian countries are expected to attend the November conference which also doubles up as ABA’s annual general meeting. A number of esteemed international speakers will participate in the event which will be hosted by Bank of Maldives whose CEO, Andrew Healy, sits on the association’s board of directors.
Andrew commented “We are delighted that ABA has chosen Maldives for its prestigious General Meeting and Conference this year and we had some very fruitful discussions with Daniel and the ABA delegation today. The conference will focus on the future direction of banking in Asia and we look forward to playing our part while showcasing what the banking sector and the country have to offer”.
Daniel Wu expressed his gratitude on behalf of the ABA delegation, saying “I would like to thank Andrew and his Bank of Maldives team for hosting us so professionally today. We are also very grateful to the Minister of Finance & Treasury and MMA Governor for allocating so much of their valuable time. We look forward very much to returning to Maldives in November for what promises to be a very worthwhile and enjoyable conference.”
The 35th General Meeting and Conference of the Asian Bankers Association, under the theme “Banking in Asia: The Next Frontier”, will be held in Kurumba Maldives on 15th/16th November 2018.
