SriLankan Airlines is set to start flying directly to Addu Gan on 2nd November after stopping direct flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year February.
Ace Travels is the Maldivian Agent for SriLankan Airlines and the Managing Director of Ace Travels, Mr. Mohamed Firag has stated that SriLankan Airlines is starting the direct flights as more people are starting to travel now since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic.
As of now, SriLankan Airlines will be traveling once a week to Gan and once the tourist arrival to southern resorts starts increasing, the airline will be increasing the flights. Even though SriLankan Airlines is not operating direct scheduled flights, charter flights were going directly to Addu in the last few months.
The biggest resorts in the southern atoll which are Shangri-La Villingili Resort & Spa and Canareef Resort Maldives are still closed due to the COVID-19 situation and an opening date is yet to be decided.
