State income is projected to raise slightly in the year 2019, as per the Annual Report of 2018 released by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
MIRA estimates that the state would generate an income of MVR 16.3 billion for the year 2019, in the Annual Report 2019. The estimated amount is 2.7% greater than the generated income in 2018.
The income received in April and May 2019 was lower than the estimated amount. This was due to a drop in income through Business Profit Tax (BPT) from the banks. A drop in income collected was also seen in March due to GST not being paid by some taxpayers.
