The President Makes New Appointments to the Foreign Ministry

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday made new appointments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this regard he appointed Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed as Ambassador-at-Large and Ahmed Latheef as Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to his new appointment, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed served as the Foreign Secretary. An accomplished diplomat, Ghafoor has served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, both at headquarters and in a number of foreign postings. During his long and distinguished career in the Maldives foreign service, Ghafoor also served as Counsellor and then Deputy High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka and later as Deputy High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia as well.

Ahmed Latheef served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Federal Republic of Germany before his new appointment.
