Baglioni is an Italian hotel group and are all set to open their first hotel outside Europe; in the Maldives in December. There are a total of 96 villas inclusive of garden, beach, water villas and a family villa containing a 3-bedroom Presidential Water Villa. Moreover, there will be three restaurants namely International, Japanese and definitely an Italian restaurant where ingredients are directly brought from the hotels very own vegetable garden. The distance from Velana International Airport to this resort is a 40-minute ride by the seaplane.

After the success of their first hotel in the Maldives, South Male’ Atoll, LUX* is all set to open their second hotel in the picnic island ‘Olhahali’ at the end of this year. A fascinating fact about this hotel is that it will be replacing the classic thatch-roofed overwater villas with an oversized luxury Penthouse Residence. This resort is gracefully designed by a Singapore design group Miaja in a structure that combines the super yacht panache with a vibrant South Beach pulse. Gran Melia Maldives, Thaa Atoll
Melia group is all set to open their hotel in the Maldives, the Gran Melia Maldives this October. Located in the Kalhudiyafushi in the Thaa Atoll, this resort is a 40-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport and a short ride by speedboat from the domestic Kaadhedhoo Airport. Its 95 villas will be set among a coral reef. Additionally, there will be 3 restaurants, a bar and a café, a spa and several retail shops.

Mecure Maldives Kooddoo resort is set to open in mid-2017 and is claimed to be the best-value hotel option in the Maldives. There are a total of 68 villas where 43 are over water villas and the remaining are spread across the white sandy beaches. This resort is built using local materials, bright colors and stylish furniture and designed to reflect the culture of Maldives.
Grand Park Kohdhipparu, Gaafu Alifu Atoll
Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives is located on the North Malé Atoll and 15 minutes speedboat ride from Velana International Airport; a good option for guests who do not prefer to go too far from the city. It is designed by the world-renowned hospitality design firm, Hirsch Bedner Associates, where they went for a traditional Maldivian feel. the luxury resort comprises of 120 villas with beachfront pool villas, overwater villas and overwater pool villas that come with a private infinity pool. This resort is believed to be the most architecturally unique hotels in the Maldives since there is a whale shaped bar, a conch shell shaped library and a lobster shaped spa. This resort comprises of 33 beach villas and 44 over water villas.
Kandima, Dhaalu Atoll
Kandima Maldives is located in Dhaalu Atoll. There is a large natural lagoon and lush tropical island surroundings that will simply take your breath away. Movenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru, Noonu Atoll
Movenpick is a hotel group from Switzerland and are all set to open their first hotel in the Maldives in 2018. This resort is located in the less-developed Northern part if the island nation. This resort will be comprising of 32 beach villas and 70 over water villas. Additionally, there will be an on-site dive center and a spa as well. There will also be a small-scale marine research center and a private marina for up to 12 catamarans.
