Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal and Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, toured the islands of Baresdhoo and Gaadhoo in Laamu Atoll to explore opportunities for tourism development.
In a social media post, Minister Faisal shared that the discussions took place during the High Commissioner’s tour of the islands. The focus was on the potential of these islands as sites for tourism development, aiming to foster economic growth while preserving their natural beauty and heritage.
This tour coincides with efforts by both countries to strengthen trade relations. Recently, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited India, where five agreements were signed to enhance cooperation, one of which includes a currency swap agreement. The President also engaged in business forums across various Indian cities.
The Maldivian government is actively seeking to expand tourism nationwide, with plans to attract investors to less developed areas. Minister Faisal announced upcoming investor forums in Singapore, Thailand, and Dubai to support this initiative.
