Minister of Tourism, Honorable Ali Waheed meets with the American Ambassador for Maldives, Ms. Alaina Teplitz during her trip to Maldives.
The main reason for the discussion was to discuss what America can contribute to Maldives tourism. The discussions included topics such as building people in the industry, increasing security in the tourism industry and more as per the Ministry.
The current government is putting a lot of effort in marketing and promoting Maldives tourism. For instance, the tourism budget was multiplied by 3 times and campaigns are being held to promote local island tourism.
The Minister is also making visits to all areas of Maldives to recognize the difficulties in promoting tourism in the respective area. The first issue of an Arabic magazine by the name “Al Juzr” has also been published to help promote Maldives in Arabic countries.
