To achieve the government’s goal of attracting two million tourists this year, the Maldives Ministry of Tourism has announced a collaboration with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to position China as the leading source market for tourist arrivals.
Minister Ibrahim Faisal outlined that upcoming destination marketing activities will be launched across various provinces in China, designed to offer Maldivian tour operators and stakeholders unique opportunities to showcase and market their products directly to the Chinese audience.
Beyond marketing initiatives, Minister Faisal expressed the intention to strengthen travel connections by initiating direct flight operations with additional airlines in China. The introduction of new direct flights is expected to facilitate easier travel between the Maldives and China, consequently boosting tourism, with Minister Faisal expressing optimism about China becoming the leading source of tourists.
Minister Faisal stressed that boosting marketing efforts in China is crucial to overcoming tourism challenges, expressing strong confidence that it will elevate the Maldives tourism industry and contribute significantly to achieving government targets.
