The Ministry of Tourism has released a circular announcing that Guesthouses and Safari Operators who fail to submit monthly statistics reports will be penalized beginning from January 2017.
All Guesthouse owners and Safari operators are required by law to submit monthly reports and statistics for the preceding month on or before the 7th day of each month, however, the Ministry has revealed that very few businesses abide by this rule currently. The information from the reports is considered vital by the ministry in order to be informed about the health of the industry and to identify trends and developments. As such, the Ministry will now be reinforcing the rule and will penalize businesses that fail to submit their monthly reports.
The Ministry also urged all Guesthouse owners and Safari operators to register with the Tourism Information Management Systems (TIMS) prior to March 1st.
