Tourism Ministry Reopens Bidding for Nalandhoo Resort Development

The Ministry of Tourism has reopened the bidding process for the development of Nalandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll. This move is in line with the government’s plan to boost tourism in the northernmost atolls following the expansion of Hanimaadhoo International Airport.

In August, the ministry had initially opened bids for resorts in Medhufushi, Haa Alifu Atoll, and Nalandhoo. In September, the uninhabited island Ruh Thibi Rah near Kinbidhoo was included as a potential development site.

The government intends to establish 120 tourist beds in Medhufushi, 100 beds in Ruh Thibi Rah, and 200 beds in Nalandhoo to increase economic activity and employment opportunities in the region.

The Ministry of Tourism has invited eligible investors, whether local or foreign, to participate in a virtual information session on October 24 and submit their proposals by November 6. To join the information session, interested parties must send an email request.

The Bid Document is available for purchase from October 22 to November 5, either in person at the ministry’s reception or via email. For any questions about the bidding process, interested parties can contact the ministry via email before November 5.
