Transport Ministry has announced its decision to annul that taxi licenses for taxi charging citizens more than the regulated amount.
The Transport Ministry has revealed in an announcement that they have been receiving complaints from citizens on taxi drivers charging a higher price than the specified amount for taxi rides. Hence, a regulation will be made to revoke the taxi driver’s license if they have been fined for more than thrice in a year.
The new regulations by the Transport Ministry indicate that the highest fee chargeable for a taxi trip between Male’ and Hulhumale’ is MVR 75. And fee chargeable between Male’ and Velana International Airport is MVR 60.
Furthermore, they have also made an amendment to the new regulations that no further fee would be chargeable for luggage placed in the trunk of the car.
