Two ice plants to be established under the Indian grant aid scheme

Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has signed an agreement to establish ice plants in two islands under the grant aid scheme from the Government of India.

The Ministry plans to establish a plant in K. Gaafaru and R. Maduvvari with the capacity to produce and store 25 metric tonnes of ice.

VAM & Company Private Limited has been contracted to complete both projects within 5 months at a cost of USD 517,287.

Fisheries Ministry has said that the aim of establishing more ice plants at various locations in the country is to provide ice for fishing vessels to store fish during long journeys.
