Two Names Sent to Parliament for Commissioner General of Taxation Role

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has nominated Mohamed Haleem Abdulla and Fathimath Ameeza for the post of Commissioner General of Taxation, sending their names to Parliament for approval.

The nominations were submitted in a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament. In the letter, the President stated that the two nominees were his preferred choices from among the applicants for the position.

Haleem is the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Maldives, CA Maldives. He holds a Master’s degree in Professional Accountancy from the University of London and has extensive experience in the accounting profession.

Ameeza holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from Monash University and currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.

The post became vacant after former Commissioner General of Taxation Hassan Zareer resigned following his appointment as Minister of Finance.

Parliament will now review the nominations before deciding whether to approve an appointment to the role.
